In 2021, the Icelandic University of the Arts launched a new two-year international master’s program in architecture led by Hildigunnur Sverrisdóttir, the head of the architecture department and program leader. Tinna Grétarsdóttir and Sigurjón Baldur Hafsteinsson were invited to lead the first semester’s theme with their Turfiction research project, setting the agenda for critical approaches to architecture in terms of knowledge, skills, expertise, materiality, sustainability, care and environmental challenges. The workshop was carried out in collaboration with Íslenski bærinn, Hannes Lárusson, and the National Museum of Iceland.
